Eleven Awards, Eleven Unrepeatable Moments
There are milestones that go far beyond numbers.
Reaching 11 Lifetime Fearless Awards is one of those moments for me. Not simply because of the number itself, but because of what it represents: years of commitment to seeing differently, feeling deeply, and creating photographs that hold truth, risk, and emotion in a single frame.
What Makes a Fearless Award So Difficult to Win?
Fearless Photographers is widely recognised as one of the most demanding communities in wedding photography. According to Fearless, every two months a panel of guest curators selects only 1% to 3% of submitted images as Fearless Awards. On the Portugal listing, I am currently shown with 11 Lifetime Fearless Awards, placing me among the top 3 photographers listed in Portugal by Lifetime Awards.
That context matters.
Because every Fearless Award is not just a prize. It is a photograph that, among thousands of submissions, stood out for its vision, emotion, originality, or sheer boldness.
And that is exactly what has always moved me.
Not the idea of collecting awards for the sake of recognition, but the pursuit of images that feel alive. Images that carry tension, beauty, fragility, surprise, humour, silence, impact, the kind of photographs that say something lasting about a wedding day and about the people living it.
These 11 awards are, in many ways, 11 reminders of what I believe wedding photography should be.
It should be honest.
It should be fearless.
It should be emotionally true.
And it should never settle for the obvious.
Some of these awarded photographs are quiet and intimate. Others are bold, graphic, unexpected, or full of movement. Some are deeply emotional. Others are playful or cinematic. Together, they represent the way I see weddings: not as a formula, but as a living story made of people, energy, contrast, atmosphere, and meaning.
That is why this milestone means so much to me.
It reflects consistency.
It reflects trust from the couples who allow me into some of the most intimate and intense moments of their lives.
And it reflects a way of photographing that is rooted not only in aesthetics, but in instinct, emotion, and presence.
To be currently listed among the top 3 photographers in Portugal on Fearless by Lifetime Awards is something I receive with gratitude and humility.
More than a ranking, I see it as a sign that the path I have been building, one of documentary sensitivity, creative courage, and emotional honesty, continues to resonate on an international level.
But no award exists in isolation.
Behind every recognised image there is a real wedding day. Real people. Real weather. Real unpredictability. Real emotion. There are moments that last only a fraction of a second and can never be repeated. And that, perhaps, is what makes this kind of recognition especially meaningful: each awarded image was born from reality, not from control.
As a destination wedding photographer in Portugal, I have always believed that the strongest images come from a balance between intuition and craft, between watching carefully and reacting fearlessly. Awards like these are not the destination. They are a reflection of that journey.
And this journey is far from over.
The truth is that I still feel the same hunger to create images that surprise me, challenge me, and move people. The same desire to go beyond the expected. The same commitment to photographing weddings with depth, elegance, humanity, and boldness.
So today, I celebrate this milestone with gratitude.
