Portugal has an extraordinary visual identity.
Historic palaces in Sintra and Lisbon. Atlantic coastlines. Contemporary architecture. Vineyards. Remote landscapes in Madeira and the Azores. Intimate venues hidden throughout the country.
When I photograph a destination wedding, I do not treat the venue as a background. I use it as part of the narrative.
Architecture, scale, symmetry, light and landscape help me create photographs that immediately bring you back to the place where everything happened. But the location is only one part of the story.
The people remain the most important.
The Moments You Cannot Plan Are Often the Ones You Remember
Some photographs can be prepared. Others exist for less than a second.
A tear before the ceremony. A parent holding someone a little tighter. A friend laughing uncontrollably. A look exchanged across a room.
Those moments cannot be repeated. That is why much of my approach is documentary. I observe instead of constantly directing. I anticipate instead of recreating.

A wedding dress is one of the most visually powerful elements of a wedding.
Fabric, volume, movement, texture and silhouette all react differently to light.
My fashion background helps me recognise those details quickly and create bridal portraits with a stronger editorial language.
But elegance should never become stiffness.
I am interested in the point where sophistication still feels natural.
Where the bride looks beautiful without looking like someone else.
Where the photograph could belong in an editorial, but still belongs unmistakably to her wedding day.
Different Cultures Deserve Different Stories
One of the things I value most about destination weddings is the possibility of photographing different traditions and cultures.
Every celebration has its own rhythm.
Its own symbols. Its own colours. Its own relationships.
I do not believe in applying the same visual formula to every wedding.
Before photographing a tradition, I want to understand what is happening.
During it, I look for the people, gestures and details that give the moment meaning.
The result should feel authentic to that wedding, not simply consistent with a photographer’s portfolio.

My approach remains consistent, emotion, creativity, elegance and spontaneity, but the photographs should always belong to the people and the story in front of me.
I want to understand the character of your wedding, observe what happens naturally and use the light, architecture and landscape around us to create images that feel both honest and visually distinctive.
Some photographs will come from moments I could never predict, while others will be created through composition, movement or subtle direction, but they all have the same purpose: to preserve not only what your wedding looked like, but what it felt like to be there.

How far in advance should we book our destination wedding photographer?
For popular dates and the main wedding season in Portugal, contacting your photographer around 12 to 18 months before the wedding can be useful. However, availability varies, so it is always worth asking even when the wedding is closer.
What is your wedding photography style?
My work combines documentary wedding photography with an editorial and fashion-influenced visual approach.
Most of the day is photographed naturally and without intervention. When a portrait benefits from direction, I use light, composition, posture and movement without making the image feel overly staged.
We are uncomfortable in front of the camera. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Most couples I photograph are not used to being professionally photographed.
My approach is designed around that.
I give direction when necessary and then allow the interaction between you to become natural again.
Do you photograph engagement sessions and elopements?
Yes.
Engagement sessions and elopements give us more time and freedom to explore locations that may not be practical on the wedding day.
